A City River
This is the Humber River, one of two major rivers that run through Toronto and empty into Lake Ontario. The Humber is in the west end and for most of its length through the city it is lined with lovely parks and trails making it a wonderful place to be on a sunny fall day such as this one about a week ago. During Hurricane Hazel in 1954 the Humber became a deadly river sweeping away homes and many people, a situation that has resulted in its wide flood protection area. This is one of many small waterfalls along its path to the lake that help control the water during floods.

I've wandered up the river on those park trails in the past, it's really a lovely place to be.... and such lovely weather today! I'm going out for a walk.

The flooding could be a problem, but another Toronto treasure overall. What a great place to walk, run, bike!
I do remember Hazel. She was a wicked lady.
The only thing I remember about Hurricane Hazel is the tons of rain and wind. The water barrier makes for a nice scene. Perhaps it is there to prevent the migration of the lamprey.
I've passed over it countless times, but I've never spent time around the river. It's very pretty here.

It is good to have a river nearby, but it is even better that it has been somewhat 'tamed' a bit...
It looks like a most attractive greenway through the city.

Gosh, it is a beautiful place, RedPat. But, no fall color yet? The fall foliage started to show in New England this past week. I am surprised you don't yet have it.

I have a sister in law called Hazel, she can be like a hurricane at times :) This is a lovely scene Pat, all the better now that it's been made a bit safer.
