Not A Real Ghost Sign

I spotted this sign recently and at first glance it looks like a ghost sign but it is actually a new sign painted on a canvas of painted-on faded bricks. So it is like a painting of a sign. Moosehead Brewery is the oldest independent brewery in Canada, started in 1867 by the Oland family and now owned by the 6th generation of the family.

...but pretty nice none the less!

The name of the beer is appropriate for the area where it is served! An effective and clear sign.

This family probably owns some of those gorgeous homes you've been showing us lately. I really like the sign and how they've made a background for it by lightning it...I'm sure it was done deliberately to look like a ghostly sign probably to indicate they plan to be around forever. Maybe? :)

They did a good job of making this look like a faded ghost sign.

A fun fake ghost sign - great moose head!

I just read this morning of a young new member of the Sulzberger family being promoted into the hierarchy of the New York Times, the fifth generation of the family to own the paper. It's nice, like the Moosehead folks, when a business stays in the family.

But it is a great replica -- very nice on the brick building. I actually wondered about one I posted a while ago -- it had several different ads on the side of a building, which I don't remember ever seeing anywhere else (in real or in blogland) ... I couldn't find anyone who knew anything about it, we were in a tiny town up in Eastern Washington on a roadtrip. So I just hope it was a real ghost sign.

It does look genuine, even if it isn't. Suits the building.

That is a fine looking sign even if it is not old. BTW, I do like Moosehead Beer as it has more flavor than most American beers. Looks like they cleaned that brick wall before painting the sign.

I like how they "aged" the sign. That's a really long time to be in business. Moosehead must be really tasty. thanks for sharing this

Even if it's not a real ghost, it's still a nice sign!

It is quite effective, isn't it. I like the sign more than many "new" ones.

(Go stick a question mark in there for me, OK?)

I love the way they did that - it looks as though it belongs on the side of that building!
