Somehow I forgot to post this pic which I took on November 11, Remembrance Day in Canada. It was taken at James Gardens and shows a small grove of Rose of Sharon bushes which have been decorated with flags and red ribbons. The tribute was done by the Rose of Sharon Association as a remembrance of the over 26,000 Canadians who had fought in the Korean War and the 516 of them who were killed there. There are 516 red ribbons tied to the Rose of Sharon bushes - this is the national flower of Korea. It was very moving to just happen upon this display.

...every day should be Remembrance Day.
That is a wonderful memorial, Pat. Looks almost like red roses are blossoming.
A beautiful way to remember!
what a lovely memorial! thanks for remembering to share it with us!
A beautiful way to pay tribute to those who lost their lives.
A moving sight definitely Pat, I hate to think of our grandchildren looking back on this period right now, I feel many more memorials to come sadly.
Love the addition of the flags. Lovely tribute.
Glad you did come upon it as it is a very beautiful memorial.
Awesome display. Veterans deserve all the respect we can give them.
In the U.S. this is called Veterans Day. It is celebrated on Nov 11 because WW I ended on Nov. 11 at 11:00 o'clock in the morning. The poppy is the flower associated with this day because they grew in Flanders Field, a WW I battle field.
Very poignant.
Very nice.
