Back To The Shop

Our transit system ordered new streetcars several years ago and there have been numerous delays with their delivery and so far we just have 89 out of the order of 204. Just within the last month it has been stated that 67 of the 89 need to be recalled and totally taken apart and rewelded. They plan on doing just a few at a time and hope to have the order filled by the end of 2019. We will wait and see.

Yes, an absolute disaster. TCC got it right with buying the working parts from Germany, but so wrong by having the very faulty bodies built in Mexico, when they could have been built properly in Canada and give local employment. It has been a long time disaster in the happening.

Wow, that sounds awful. How can their be so many problems and recalls.
They are nice looking streetcars. Happy Friday, enjoy your day and weekend!

That sounds like American style government at it's best! I wonder who got the kick-back for that contract.
(Oops, I'm sounding a bit cynical, aren't I?)

Not only by you. We have also troubles with new metro trains in amsterdam and reading Stefan Jansson its more an epidemie. The back side of democratic systems by spending tax money for public use.

Cool looking trolleys.

The company chairman and his immediate subordinates at this point need to be given a swift kick in the butt. Repeatedly. Apologies and half hearted excuses are not enough.

Makes you wonder if they can get some of them right why not them all? Happy weekend Pat ✨

That is a very serious problem. I do hope that the ones they leave behind while fixing a few at a time don't fall apart and people get hurt.

Too bad your streetcars have been less than you had hoped. Streetcars have been rediscovered by many cities just recently for all the advantages they provide.

What a mess! It always surprises me in situations like this that no one seems held responsible.

It's not surprising that there are delays, truly. With tariffs, and all. Things never seem to take as long as contracts predict

The TTC has been jinxed.

Thank goodness they're staying on top of it. They sure look extremely well built but these days, it seems so many short cuts and hurry-ups make for bad construction.

WOW, that must be frustrating for everyone!

This happens in Toronto, too? Don't get me started on the malfeasance in Connecticut . . .
