This pond at James Gardens never freezes over totally because of a steady stream of water feeding it so the Mallards stay here all winter. They seem to be practicing a bit of social distancing this year.

I think they are! How neat to see so many and it looks like a cold place to swim but at least it's not completely frozen! Happy weekend!
I knew they were smart birds! They must have a good thick coat of feathers to be swimming in that frigid water.
Lots of ducks in that pond. There must be food nearby or they would leave. Keep warm.

looks like word got out. it's nice they have a comfy spot for winter with lots of company!!
I looked carefully to see if other species joined the congregation, but it appears to be a Mallards only club. Wonderful to see such a great winter scene though. I am sure that many passers-by enjoy it immensely.
