I certainly didn't know that there was a large number of Irish who fought with the Mexican army in the Mexican-American war and there was a whole battalion named after St Patrick. I'll show you the Mexican groups that followed this sign for the next 2 days.

The St. Patrick's Day parade in San Antonio, TX has a strong Mexican connection, but I am surprised to see this connection in your city.
