Hiding Treasures

Although most of our squirrels have black fur there are still many around with grey fur. When I first saw this one it was burying something so deep that his whole head disappeared into the hole. He then spent a lot of time filling in the hole and trying to make it look as if no earth had been disturbed. I wonder if he will remember where it was?

Gray with spots of brown. I wonder why the black morph version is becoming dominant.

I bet it was something tasty that he'll dig up later.

Squirrels are always fun to watch. We don't have either black or gray squirrels. Ours are brown, and I have a pair that live in my pine trees.

Squirrels are fun to watch, I also wonder if they ever remember where they buried all the nuts etc.

I have learned that grey squirrels are a species. The black ones are a morph of the grey. This is from the rehab people who gave us the black squirrel to release, #75.
