Controversy

Probably the most controversial sculpture on the U of Toronto campus is this one, "Crucified Woman" by artist Almuth Lutkenhaus. Installed in 1976 at Victoria College, it has been the subject of much debate that continues to this day. Obviously some students have decided to 'keep her warm' by providing the scarf but you can still see the strength and power of the piece as it stands in its glade of trees.

First I thought it was a religious sculpture....
Anyway, I don`t think I like it. Sorry!;(

Women were (and still has been) crucified over the centuries, but most of people don't admit this still happens, or simply don't want to see that.
It's good this sad woman makes young people debate about it!
The scarf can be fun, but I like to think that it was a sweet touch. ;-)
(I love to see everything covered in white!)

I love this piece. I also agree with Lucia.

It carries an important message, but I'm not sure I'd like to pass it every day on the way to my class.
