Harry Potter in the Toronto Subway

All the pillars on the St Patrick subway platform have been wrapped in Harry Potter pics or brick laminate in honour of last night's Canadian premiere of the new HP film just down the street. Lots of people were having their pics taken next to giant images of the wizard so the ad campaign seems to be a success!

I have never read the books, but I did watch one movie a few years ago. I guess the kids like it.

did you have to shoo people away? I never got into the books past the first one, so I think I'll give this ending a miss.

I see Harry is northbound and Voldemort I'm guessing is southbound?

Happy you were able to snap this with no one around! It's all over the radio and TV here. So, looks like it's going to be another mega-success. Have a nice evening RedPat.

Great Signs, Signs post... timely!

I didn't like the first two books, but the others are excellent!
With the filmes I had the opposite feeling, the first and second are my favourites!
It's cool to see these signs on the subway platform (to Hogwarts?)! ;-)

I'm not a fan but with the release coming this week the excitement is out there.

One advantage to living in a small town - no Harry Potter ads!!

Though it does make a nice photo topic Red.

How festive....I bet New York was all dolled up for the occasion, too. I still cannot believe the actors are in their 20’s. How time flies. Genie

Cool shot, and the fact that it's taken at the subway, even better!

Apparently it's all the buzz in Australia as well. My partner and 4 of her friends have pre-booked tickets for a viewing in Melbourne this weekend!

I think this is a pretty appealing kind of publicity. I don't detect the same high level of mania around the newest Potter movie, but it will make staggering amounts of money regardless. What a franchise!

I like this better than billboards.

Very cool shot! I'm a big HP fan and can't wait to see this last installment. Apparently my forty-year-od son and I will always be kids at heart...LOL!

It certainly is a big deal all over the world, I couldn't bring myself to read the books , but have enjoyed the movies with my daughter.

I know people - kids and adults alike - who were HP crazy, but I am not one of them. Neither read a book nor saw a movie. Still, it's impossible for any aware person not to know the general story and the characters. It's been decades since I was in a TO subway... looks well kept, even if I am not a big fan of big billboards either. And no, I'm not a grump! :-D Good post for Signs!

ha, bigger is better, I guess.
I like how these columns are sloped. They are huge though. Is this station miles underground?

I expect the rest of the summer to be a lot of Potter-ville.
