Healing Lodge Entrance

Another shot of yesterday's Healing Lodge from the roof top of the Native Child andFamily Services of Toronto building, this one to give you an idea of the entrance into the lodge itself and of the surrounding neighbours.  Once the lodge has been heated up, you enter and then close this door behind you for your healing (I'll show the interior tomorrow).  In the background you can see some of the neighbouring condos and the pink granite building with its many terraces which is the Toronto Police Headquarters. I like how its blue dome references the lodge dome (or vice versa)!

A very interesting photo. Healing lodges by whatever name are much needed today. This reminds me a bit of the saunas that my ancestors used in the winters in Minnesota. They thought it healing to roll around in the snow and then melt it off in their saunas.

Your blog looks wonderful, or have I told you that before?

Good stuff, Pat. The lodge does look like a healing place. I think it is the half-round shape.
And the blue trim on the police building? Or is that metal reflecting the blue of the dome? I like it.

It doesn't look quite as good from this angle, so I'm glad you gave us the other one first. But I do like the police HQ building.

I haven't seen a healing lodge that was quite this elaborate. I have been in a sweat lodge, though, and felt much better once back outside.

This is really neat!
I entered four shots in the competition. But there are so many super shots, I prob don't have a chance. But they are on the Flickr page under Halcyon37 if you want to take a look. :)

Pretty interesting. The fit between this healing lodge and the big police building is excellent. I am glad that the architects took a look at the neighboring building.

I like both of these shots Pat, this shot give a clearer view of the healing lodge's surrounding buildings. I think I would like to be there right now, I need a little bit of healing!!

Strangely enough, the sweat lodge fits in very well. I think that it's amazing that it looks like (to my eyes) that it belongs there.

Great capture, Pat. Looks faintly oriental to me.
