St Giles-In-The-Fields

While I was in London I took a trip up to the top (33rd floor) of the Centrepoint building in the West End and got some fabulous shots even though it was a cloudy misty day. It isn't often that you can get a shot of a church from above the steeple and I really like this perspective of St Giles-In-The-Fields Anglican church. This church was built between 1730-34 in the Palladian style and underwent a large restoration in 1952-53. With its lovely trees it looks like a little oasis among all the buildings that have sprung up around it over the centuries.

The green roof amongst the trees is very attractive. This IS a great view.

A very unusual perspective, not very often you get to photograph a church from above!

Nice shot. What a great opportunity to get up above it all.

When it was built, this would have been one of the tallest buildings around. Now, from above, we see it in a way the people of the 1700s could never have imagined.
The roof would have been copper, I am guessing by the green colour.
Gorgeous shot!

Imagine what it must have been like when it WAS surrounded by fields.

That is definitely an unusual perspective. Great little church and love the background you gave us.

Thank goodness the roof is beautiful from on high ;)

Super shot, Pat. I'm sure those who operate the church like to think of it as an oasis, too.
