Steel Wall

This is the front wall of the new visitor centre at Fort York where you find out all kinds of info about the fort before entering into it. It was designed by Patkau Architects Inc & Kearns Mancini Architects Inc and the Corten steel gives it a contemporary vibe while at the same time referencing the defensive setting of the fort behind it. That structure to the right is the Gardiner Expressway which is an elevated roadway running along our waterfront. More pics to come for a couple of days.

Modern fort look, rather forbidding!

I bet it's noisy under that bridge!

I like the angle you took in the shot.

Seems perfect for the location.

A nice reminder of just how close it is to the expressway. It reminds me of the contrast between the freeways a little further up towards the 401, and a cemetery stuck right in the middle of it.

It weathers wonderfully, I think.

Looks like it would be hard to climb!

Nice looking modern design.

I am guessing that you framed this to make it look very nice, hiding most of that elevated motorway.

Looks like it works well in its surroundings.
