Deco Decay

I was taking a shortcut when I passed this low rise apartment building and noticed the birds above the door so pulled over immediately. It is hard to believe that a building with such wonderful Art Deco details would be allowed to fall into such a state of disrepair. There are occupied apartments so I think there must be another door they use rather than this one. I hope someone restores this place soon! And this is in a desirable part of town.

What a shame. This appears to be one of those buildings about which people say "It has good bones, but need a lot of TLC." Well-spotted, and well photographed, Pat! You always find such interesting subjects!

Call the newspaper or TV station and have them do a story on it. Drum up some interest in fixing it up.

Oh my, I couldn't agree more. What a shame to let such a pretty building looks so down at heel. I hope the other entrance has a more welcoming appeal.

It is hard to understand why something like this happened.

Oh definitely way too great a building to be 'let go' like this. I hope somebody restores it to its original glory. I just love the swallows on the door plate.

WHoa! Love this! Looks like something from a movie where the people have disappeared.
