Floating

If you closely at the building in the upper half of this pic you will see that it is floating above yet another pit for a condo building along Yonge St. The building is supported by I-beams and two pillars that go to the bottom of the hole. I'm not sure if the owner refused to sell or if the building has heritage protection but obviously at least this front section is going nowhere!

It really does seem to be floating. Waiting for someone to make a decision!

It's interesting how it is supported. I wonder if it will be incorporated into the new building.

I've seen similar pits here, but not with a structure supported in that fashion.

Hello,

I assume the floating building is empty. I would not want to be around with all that construction work. Enjoy your day and weekend!

Wow that is amazing!

Good for them for not letting progress take over all the old heritage buildings!

Amazing, never seen nothing like that before.

Quite often now save the facade of a heritage building and a whopping skyscraper goes up behind, happens a lot here too Pat.. well spotted ✨

Ottawa has a lot of infill, too. It is really crazy, if not creative.
