We don't see many butterflies in November but a couple of weeks ago on a sunny day this beauty spent the afternoon fluttering around on the Marigolds on my south facing deck. I was out there too enjoying the unusual late autumn warmth along with tens of bees who were buzzing around my large Chrysanthemum. I am pretty sure this was a Painted Lady butterfly.

It certainly looks like the Painted Ladies we see in the UK - though seldom or never in November.
What a surprise! We have two butterfly species, I believe 2, that overwinter. The others fly south.
What a lovely sight, though.
The colors of both flower and butterfly are terrific. What a treat to see.
How beautiful! Better fly South soon! We'll be looking for some when we hike this afternoon. You sure got a beautiful photo.
Hello,
It is a pretty butterfly! I am glad you had some flowers there for the bees and butterfly! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend!
What a pleasant surprise. I would not expect to see butterflies that far north at this time of year.
It is beautiful.
Thank you for sharing this beauty! I hope you have a lovely weekend. Pat
Yup... to me it looks like a painted lady. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ
What a nice surprise to see this painted lady late in the year.
Hello,:=) A P.ainted Lady so late in the year is unusual. Your photo is so beautiful
When I left the float cabin in October for our snowbird RV trip to Arizona I had to cut back all of my beautiful blooming marigolds. I grew them from saved seed planted in July and they were in their prime. I knew the frost would come while we are gone so it made more sense to cut them back. I used the flowers and foliage to mulch my newly planted tulip bulbs to help them make it through the winter. Maybe some marigold seeds will sprout around them as well. - Margy
Very pretty!
Sweet little thing!
Great surprising show this time of the year.
Gorgeous!
What a beautiful butterfly to surprise you on the marigolds.
Such a light filled photo! Thanks.
