Just Pecking Away

Another shot from one of the trails along the Humber River by James Gardens. I first spotted this Hairy Woodpecker poking around on the ground which I thought was unusual but then he headed up onto this tree and had a fine time pecking away.

Taking part in Saturday's Critters. Click HERE to see more creatures from around the world.

I always enjoy seeing Hairy Woodpeckers, and the only way I can tell them from Downey Woodpeckers is by size. Good photo, RedPat.

It's pretty clever climbing that tree from top to bottom. I wonder why they are named as"hairy"? Google time.
