The police can leave their bikes anywhere with little chance of them being stolen I think. They are probably now stored away for winter but are a common sight the rest of the year.

It would take a bit of nerve.
My bike shop friend says that supplying police with bikes has greatly improved urban policing. Police can ride right up to a trouble maker without them realizing the police have arrived, and they have more positive contact with the citizens than in patrol cars.
...it would be a mighty cold ride today!
Oh, pshaw -- a little spray paint on the frame and who would ever know?
You must live in a safe area. Happy new year to you.
This is a great idea. I don't think they are doing it here.
I would hope the police bikes are safe from thieves.
I wish you and yours all the best in 2026, a happy and healthy New Year!
Only a fool would steal that and we know there's lots of them around.
They are around here too, but not this time of year.
Police bicycles tend to enjoy a level of informal immunity, and it’s reassuring to think they’ll reappear as familiar fixtures once the warmer months return
Some here would see it as a challenge, but even with the signage covered, there would still be a great risk of it being identified.
Hard to see that it is a police bike, at least compared to the ones in Sweden, but I agree on the low risk of them being stolen.
