I have little trust in the ice on ponds, so I wouldn't walk on it either. The consequences of falling into the water is just too serious in winter.

I trust the Canal, which opened up on New Year's Eve, but I wouldn't trust river ice or pond ice.
Snow storm here today, chaos everywhere, the joy of Winter, this looks a bit better.
