It is a beautiful hot summer day here (30˚C) so it is perfect for a wander through the shady streets of the Annex where I spotted this wonderful carving on a house built in the 1890s for the principal of a school. Perfect choice of a scroll and plume carving to go along with the moulded terra cotta tiles!

That's very unusual - I think I'm glad not everyone's house gives a clue as to what their job is, though it could be fun guessing.
Symbols are SO important in life, and these blend in well with the bricks.
The plume is so delicate, I like the tiles too!

We have some unique spots on brick buildings like this. What a surprise when you find them.
This detailing is just exquisite. There is so much, the sandstone, the fired clay tiles and then the granite insets. Oh how I miss the times where people put such fine craftsmanship into their homes.
