Coca-Cola Plant

This striking Coke sign is located in front of the old headquarters of the company in Toronto, a building constructed in the 1960s. The Coca-Cola logo is one of the world's most recognized ones and has remained fairly consistent since the 1880s when Coke was first created. This sign shows the 1969 addition of the "Dynamic Ribbon" wave below the traditional script. More about the sculpture visible in the background tomorrow.

I grew up on a steady diet of Coca Cola. Now it's Coke and rye;-)

Everything's better with Coke, right? (Or are you a Pepsi fan?)

The wave element has a history! I did not know or realise that it was added so much later! The sign still looks so fresh and unweathered!

Yes there's no avoiding its global marketing arm is there? But that doesn't mean one has to buy it, though it is useful for cleaning up old coins...;-)

I'm going to be dating myself but, back in my home town of Quincy Illinois, we used to have a coke botteling plant and they had a huge window where you could watch the bottles go around as they were being filled and capped. I hadn't thought about that in ages.

I don't drink Coke, but I think the logo is great.
Love the vintage bottles. ;-)

I am intruiged by the phrase 'coca-cola plant' when linked to that image in their front garden. Really had my poor old brain going there for a while, Pat.

*grin*

For being there since 1960s, the sign looks in remarkably great condition.

I'm Pepsi man myself, though there's no denying the reach of that ubiquitous logo.

I like the old soda machines better :)

A very elegant sculpture of the iconic logo! Does Coke still have offices in the building or is some other company using it now?

Lowell - more info to come over the next couple of days.

Amazing the script hasn't changed all those years. I'm particularly fascinated by its rendition in non-roman scripts. See here:

What's better? Coke or Pepsi? No, Root Beer

I'm not a soda person, but when I have one it is a Pepsi. You cannot deny the famous Coke logo!

Wow, major corporate headquarters I would say, anxious to see the piece tomorrow.

So interesting to see Red, my son works for Coca Cola in Sydney. The good thing is that they're into so much more than just Coke now, coffee, juices, water and so much more. I guess even big brand products have to diversify these days.

I've never seen this sign before. I've always liked the Coca Cola logo. Probably b/c it's red! :)

I've always loved the shade of red they use - it really stands out on this sign!!!

I used to be a "Diet Pepsi" girl, however my doctor says "NO more soda, not even diet!" Sigh.

I went to university in Atlanta, Georgia, which is the home of the Candler Family who started CocaCola. The are so many places named for the Candler Family. This Coke sign is actually very attractive. I would not mind looking out of my office window and seeing it each day. It was constructed quite tastefully. genie

It is indeed a distinctive logo and a distinctive beverage. I am a hard-core Coke drinker; not of this diet stuff for me!
