Church Of The Redeemer

I've shown this church before but never from this angle but since Bloor St was closed to traffic during the Open Streets TO event I was able to stand in the middle of the street for a different view. The Church Of The Redeemer was designed by architects Smith & Gimmell and built in 1879 when this was countryside. It now stands at one of the busiest corners in the city, across from the Royal Ontario Museum.

Even though all the buildings around it are more modern, it seems to fit in perfectly.

I generally try to avoid standing in the middle of the street, RedPat. :-)

It's a beautiful church. When I was last in the area, I photographed it from a bit of a different angle.

It's hard to believe that this location was once countryside...how times change. Tom The Backroads Traveller

What a beautiful view! Love the stone.

The more modern building behind it has steps that mirror the angle of this church's roof. Or maybe I am just imagining it.

Oh it's sad to see the city closing in on this lovely old church.
The building behind on the right looks like the steps to heaven!!

I really like how Open Streets TO lets you take photos from different angles, RedPat.
