Dancing In The Streets
During the Open Streets TO event in August when sections of Bloor & Yonge St were closed to vehicular traffic there were various groups performing along the streets. One of them was this group of Morris Dancers who were out in front of Varsity Stadium at U of Toronto. They were very enthusiastic and despite it being a hot day they jumped and reeled and entertained everyone for a long time! Morris dancing is a type of English folk dancing that has been around since at least the 1400s and usually involves the wearing of bells on the legs and swinging handkerchiefs in the hands while performing set moves.

Love dancing groups. No matter what always very energetic.
I also love dancing groups :-)
Morris dancing is one of those things that people either love or hate! ;-)
oh, how neat!
They do look very energetic.
Oh no please don't tell me you had Morris dancers there, bad enough over here with them
You have to admire their enthusiastic spirit on a hot day Pat :) well captured here, with all feet off the ground!
I love street performers.
Morris dancers truly are an energetic group!
Home from home here!
It looks like fun to watch. Wish I could hear those bells!
Fine photo of the mid-air Morris dancers. Have a friend who does this. He seems to get a kick out of it, but I'll give it a pass.
I've seen this sort of thing done before. It takes skill!
Sure seems to be a lot of dancing going on around the Internet lately. :-)
Hula yes, but Morris Dancers I have not enjoyed before today for many years!

Nice in the air shot.
I really like Morris dancing. John from Cambridge, England, often shows Morris Dancers on his blog. I look forward to seeing them.
A cool action shot with all their feet off the ground!
Now I have "Dancing In The Street" on my mind! :-)
I have always wanted to see what they do as dancers. Cool shot!
