"Do not feed the geese" is what see here. Most people obey but there are those that feed feed them, especially in the winter months.
It's exactly the same here... but with seagulls!

I used to have to chase the pigeons out of my back yard every now and then. They would try to feed at my bird feeder and were of course way too big. I think they were in that neighborhood because of the college campus two blocks away. The good thing is that when I chased them away they stayed away for several weeks before showing up again.

wonder if they make a sign like that with a whistling duck... haha!

Doesn't stop anyone here. There are even fines... never applied of course...
I knew a guy who raised pigeons. He was for the birds!
Sadly, I'm convinced there are many people who "cannot" read.
I'm pretty sure no one pays attention to these signs... or they think they're for "other" people.
Pigeons don't need to be fed; never understood why people insist on doing so.
It's true those who offend and don't follow the rules just don't seem to care. We get a lot of that around here too. It's as if they don't think it applies to them!

I rather like seeing pigeons, but I agree too many people needlessly feed them.
I don't think the signs have much deterrent effect anywhere. You can be fined for 'littering' in Shipley if you throw food down but people still do it.
It is like that here as well.
When I lived in Chicago pigeons are a real problem. The city removed them from the downtown area and the city became cleaner. Feeding them could create a a scene from Hitchcock's The Birds. Now Chicago has a problem with Canada geese being everywhere.
Yes, if you feed them, more will come and problems will arise.

I never see these type of signs in my small town area.
We need a few of these signs.
The answer? NO. People who feed pigeons will do it sitting on the sign.

i never see pigeons here...we had lots of them back in calif.
We call pigeons rats that fly. Some people will not be dissuaded!
I see signs like this in outdoor dining areas. But still people do feed the birds.
A sign I have never seen.
