Descending Carefully

Last week for Saturday's Critters I showed this cat sitting innocently in a tree and I though I would show you what he had been up too before I took that pic. He had been really high up in this old Silver Maple tree attempting to grab a squirrel who has a nest up there. The squirrel easily jumped from branch to branch nattering away at he cat for the whole time. Kitty finally gave up and gingerly came down from the heights. He was lucky that the branch had a nice lean to it so he could walk down head first.

Squirrels always descend head first, so perhaps the cat just learned to do that from the squirrel. The cat should know that the tree is the squirrel's home environment, so it didn't have a chance.

Wow, that head first climb would spook me, I am glad the cat is a good climber. What a great photo! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend! PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.

Cats are really good at climbing. It feels weird that some cats can’t get down a tree.

It's amazing to see how agile a cat can be! Cute photo!

How cute seeing him skitter down the tree. They are very sure-footed animals. Just now as sure-footed as the squirrels.

The kitty should beware of hawks.

Quite the climber but no match for the squirrel. Maybe he should go to plan B. :)

Great capture! I really believe that cats and squirrels have a lot in common!

Comes under the heading, "Easier said than done", I think. :-)

Great photo!
I have 6 cats: 2 at home and 4 in the garden (but with a room all for them). One of them spend all his time climbing trees trying to grab some bird. Luckily the birds are faster than him.
Have a good Sunday.

Not much chance of catching a squirrel in a tree, but good exercise for a moggy.

Great photo. I'm glad the cat made it all the way down. Several weeks ago our neighbor had a cat stuck up in a tree, and had to call the fire department to get it down. I had a kitten once that couldn't get back down from the cat tree we had in our home, so I had to teach it how to back down butt first. She was a fast learner.
