Deco

There were many of the old houses in Merida that had an art deco feeling so were probably built in the 1930s. You can see on this one how the moisture has moved up through the wall and it now needs a coat of paint. Traditional bars are found on most windows and doors although the city of Merida is very safe and the people are all so friendly.

I like that.

I like that art deco look. It reminds me of a row of houses from my home town in Illinois. The all had similar roof lines to this one. and the same rounded-walls.

I have always liked the Deco style. The 1930s was an ear of wonderful design. Too bad this house is no longer loved.

With the grills etc, it looks a little foreboding -- not really the right word.
