Located in the tony Yorkville area where homes and condos sell for multi millions of dollars, the Avenue diner has been at this location since 1944 and continues to go strong. The inside of the small space is a typical 50s style diner with an open kitchen, stools along the counter and booths along the wall. The menu is typical diner fare - burgers, fries, milk shakes etc. I have always loved the retro sign!

Great sign, Pat! I love those old diners, particularly if they have jukeboxes loaded with all the old tunes. Singing along with Elvis is a great way to get your big kids squirming in their seats...LOL!
the stencilled look is unusual, one might expect neon (but not in 1944, I guess!)

Yummy comfort food! In our old neighborhood, the "St. Clair Broiler" was the same kind of burger place!

It looks great, Redpat. I like funky old signs like this. The person who questioned the stencilling has a good point. I wonder if this has been changed over the years.
Diners have the best food, and this one has a nice sign.
There is one "diner" in The Villages, about 30 miles south of Ocala...but that is part of a chain. We used to visit a diner in Boca Raton that was quite authentic but it went out of business after a few years.
Glad to hear this one has been around for so long and is still viable...
Got to visit Toronto at some point in the future!

Signs like this are very appealing to me and make me want to go inside for a bite.
Thank goodness that some of these diners lasted into our time where they are now appreciated for the nostalgia they produce as well as the good dose of grease that we all love.
