Peony Beauty

I am not sure if it is because of the wet spring we have had but the peonies this year are spectacular especially the white ones. I caught this one this morning while running errands. There always seems to be an ant nearby and sure enough you can see one crawling about on the little bud.

What is it about ants and peonies? We had beautiful peonies in our yard when I was a child, but Mom wouldn't let us bring them into the house because of the ants.
My peonies aren't blooming yet, but I'm hoping they do before I leave for a 10-day jaunt to visit my family on the west coast. I'm sure my husband would forget to take photos if they bloom while I'm gone, so I'll just have to enjoy yours. This one is certainly a beauty!

We don't have many peonies here, unfortunetely... I've never seen one so full and beautiful like that!!!
I'd love to smell the scent of this flower. :)

When I was a kid, we lived in Illinois and my mother had several peony plants in the front yard. She loved it when they bloomed.

Lovely photo, the peony is beautiful!

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I was on the South Bank but not on the beach, I was standing on a jetty over the water.

A perfectly formed blossom...so beautiful. And, of course, the ubiquitous ant!
