Grand Old Home

Across the road from the stained glass window of Sunday I spotted this wonderful old house and wondered why I had never noticed it and all the fabulous details along its eaves. (Enlarge to see this.) When I got home and googled it I realized that it had previously been covered in ivy which was lovely but it did hide a lot! It turns out that the house was built in 1890 as a mansion but over the decades had become a rooming house until the 1990s when it was restored to a single family dwelling and after being sold last year it is being gutted again and upgraded once more as the area has once again become highly desirable (and pricey)!
I found some interior shots from the sale info of a year ago here. It sure surprised me.

I bet it'll be a mansion again! It has good bones.

Oh, only a bit more than $2 million. Petty cash, eh?

Wow! I checked out the interior photos - what a classy building! And they're re-doing it again - I'd have left it! I checked out the street on Google maps too. This is the classiest building in the area, I think.

It's huge! And those interior shots showed a gorgeous house. How could one improve on that? A bit too much money for me, though. It is a unique structure, and those eaves are rather striking!

Looks like two different houses inside and out, will be a fabulous home for some wealthy individual.

Beautiful old home. The inside surprises me too, such modern furnishings, not sure I like that, but I did like the kitchen and back yard.

I could live in that master bedroom! But I would hang some photos on the wall. :)

Fantastic exterior and the interior is not at all what you would expect from the outside!

The interior is a huge surprise and quite a delight for the lucky individuals who are able to afford a dream house such as this. I could live there!!

Wow! What a place, inside and out. So much for so little land space.

The detail in the wood, the stone and the brick is just exquisite. The exterior belies the interior for sure.

Gosh this is a beauty, how surprising is that interior, so light and spacious, I didn't expect that because the exterior is quite heavy and darkish. Thoroughly enjoyed having a peek inside, thanks Pat.
