People On The Street - Theme Day

The theme for March for the City Daily Photos is "people on the street" and last weekend I caught this pic of many people on the street in the Yorkville neighbourhood. Cumberland Ave was closed for Icefest and had food kiosks set up along it while the park on this side of the street had displays of the ice sculptures that had been done over Saturday and Sunday. It seemed that everyone had a camera, smart phone or i-pad and they were all in use. I'm not sure if the stores along the street did any business but the crowds were certainly out there.
Taking part in the theme day. Click here to see more "people on the street" from around the world.

Some intriguing and inviting-looking shops, though.

Good reason to go out walking in the cold, ice sculpture. We have the perfect winter for it. Great photo for the theme.

They produce some very intricate sculptures. No wonder people like looking at them.

A really fine theme day photo, Pat. Funny to see all the cameras and phones! Life has sure changed over the past 30-40 years. Those ice sculptures blow my mind. Fantastic.

Thanks for your kind words. Hope your weekend is going well!

They wouldn't last long down here.

A very busy street!

Toronto has so many freebie events like this. The prices in the Yorkville shops are too high for a 9 0 fiver like me.

Celebrating (the departure of?) winter. Fine shot.

It also seemed that it was a very cold day!
I love dolphins! ;-)

An excellent shot. This is the sort of thing that really does draw out the crowds, and rightfully so.

Toronto seems to be a hopping place these days. I would have visited here if I were up there.

Whenever I see the ice sculptures it makes me smile Pat.. 37C and ice sculptures, never going to happen :) I hope the shops and cafes did do a good trade, it would be kind of frustrating to see all those people out there and no one buying hey! Fab shot for the theme day.

Great street scene. It does seem that almost every person has a phone to their ear or a camera/phone out to take pictures with!

Nice to see those ice sculptures. I've only seen them done for fancy hotel banquets. Looks like a lively street scene.
