Universally Good

Last week I went for dinner at the Universal Grill which is a great restaurant located in what had originally been a 30s diner, then a Chinese restaurant for quite awhile, and became the Universal in the 90s. As you can see they have retained a lot of the original decor including the wonderful tin ceiling and the counter. Serving "upscale comfort food", it is a great place for a nice dinner.

Universal Grill looks like somewhere you could enjoy a relaxed meal Pat, sort of 'laid back' right!

Reminds me of a diner from the 1950s. Good food and plenty of it.

Looks a lot like one of our diners from the 1960s. I loved those places but they're far and few between now. Where are the mini-jukeboxes? :)

What did you have for dinner? ;-)

My kind of place! I love old style diners especially since we don't have any here!

Hope the food was as much fun as the décor!

What a great vintage diner, and I imagine they stay busy still. I am not sure that the original diners had such nice wine glasses (if they served wine at all). I'm ready! Let's go.

There's something universally appealing about a diner. Getting good food there is a definite plus.
