Deco Delight

This is the entrance to the underground parking for low rise apartment buildings on Avenue Road called the Mayfair Mansions. There are 3 buildings built between 1931-37 and designed by architect H.C. Roberts in a wonderful Art Deco style. The entrances to the buildings are quite nice but I love all the details in this garage door!

Seems like a quite unexpected place to find such fine work.

Oh my goodness, I would love to have a garage door like this (but perhaps a little bit wider! As it is, it looks very much like a Parisian one where no matter how careful you are, your car gets scratched!)

Very out of the ordinary for apartment garage doors.

It is quite charming, but it sure seems small to serve as an entrance to the parking for an apartment complex.
