Infill

This is a common sight in the older areas of Toronto where you will find a new modern house built in the middle of much older homes. I'm not sure if this was a total rebuild or just an extensive renovation but it works for me. The pic was taken a few weeks ago when we still had snow.
I like their fence and am taking part in Good Fences. Click HERE to see more fences from around the world.

I see this mix of styles in the towns around Toronto too. At first I found it jarring to see such a mixture but now I rather like it. ;)

Always a bit of wonder how they get the construction done in such tight quarters.

I don't often care for the mix of new and old, but this seems to fit in rather nicely. I love the color of the door with the slate-colored brick!

We call them row houses here, and normally I like the older brick designs but this one even in its modern design is very nice, and I'd be proud to say that was mine! Love the wood choice for the front door too. I rather like each one appearing in its own style instead of all blending into one! Cool shot. I like their festive ornaments too!

A new style and different colours, nice !

The fence is essential, and perfect for the house, which I quite like, by the way!

Here in the Bay Area many of the historical districts have building codes which dictates that the same style of design be continued when doing renovation or new construction.

I love those huge windows in the front!

Love it!
I love when they put a modern house between older ones. Because the older ones were once modern themselves :))

It seems strange to see a house without a peeked roof.

In this case, it seems to work- probably because the materials are the same as the neighbouring houses.

I think it looks really nice. You see some of that in here as well.

Good fence and great reflections in the windows.

It looks good between old ;)

I don't like the flat roof...they needed to make it peaked like the ones on either side!

Surprisingly enough, I like it. It looks like slate!

It would certainly be easy to tell someone which house you lived in!

Interesting photo. These "slip-in" buildings were commonly built in the 1960s and 70s. Now most replacement buildings try to be in keeping with their neighborhoods.

The fact that both houses on either side have quite obviously modernized their windows makes the highly rectangular building less obtrusive.

it is a typical mixture of styles which is very common in my Silesia,

That is a nice fence and it matches the house well. However jammed between the older homes it looks a bit out of place.

yes, an obliging little house and fence!

Love the big window and the reflections. Great fence shot and the house does fit in between the two older styled homes.

Good use of available space.

I must say it does all rather work together well.

I like it too and those windows look nice with the reflections of the trees.

This works because each house is still individual. Nice fence

Neat looking. They must have used a shoehorn to get it in there. Tom The Backroads Traveller
