Japanese Tree Peony

I found these gorgeous flowers on the grounds of the Veterans Centre at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. They are Japanese Tree Peonies and I think the heat we had a week ago brought them to bloom quite quickly. The regular peonies are still not near flowering.

These are stunning. When I was a little kid growing up in Illinois, my mother had peonies growing in the yard. I think the kind she had were a smaller variety but, they did look similar to this.

Spectacular looking flowers. I do not know this tree, but would like to learn more.

Beautiful. I have half a dozen regular peonies in my yard and they are beginning to bloom.

I have a few in our garden, but not at all as big as these.
