Welcome In

The original library building here at Jane St and Dundas St was constructed in 1975 but was rather dark and dreary inside and so a major renovation was designed by Teeple Architects and the new look was finished in 2008. The north and east facades now are totally covered in windows and this entrance is now also bright and airy and is quite welcoming.

All that light will add to the pleasure of browsing and reading in that library!

I like a bright and airy library. It seems so inviting.

Sounds good to me. Looks nice, too. But I rather like the old dark dank libraries of the past where you'd sit amidst the musty smell under low-light lamps studying the history of the human race and it would be so quiet you could have heard the proverbial pin drop. Or something. :)

The same kind of redevelopment and reorganisation happened in our town and the new building is very open and airy.

Hello, I am sure these windows help brighten up the library. Enjoy your day!

Odd that any library would be dark inside. All through the 19th and early 20th Centuries library buildings had tall windows to let in daylight. This new one looks fine from the outside, but you can never tell a book by its cover.

Yap libraries seem to be well lit these days, and I like it that way.

It certainly looks quite modern.

A library, especially, should have LOTS of natural light.

A successful renovation Pat. It's funny how libraries are so much better filled with light but quirky little bookshops seem much more intriguing when they're a wee bit dark and dusty ☺

I've spent many an hour in various branches of the TPL. Always enjoyed my time there and each branch has its own personality.
