Queen West Art Crawl
The people out for the Queen West Art Crawl did more than eat despite what I showed you on Sunday. The aisles of the art show in Trinity-Bellwoods park were packed with people admiring all the work on display. I fear that for most of them it was just entertainment and I'm not sure if there were a lot of sales going on!

Ditto the Saltaire Festival. I love looking at Maker's Fairs but there's a limit to how much art/craft one needs and can afford! Though I did buy a print this year.
I'm quite certain few sell anything at these festivals. But viewers do take artists' cards and purchase later. :)
A friend shows her work at local venue like this, and does quite well at it, so one never knows.
You've had the same experience I've had. We have an Arts Fair every year in October. Tons of people show up but not a lot of people buy things - or that's the way it looks to me. They're great fun, though.
I hope the artists made enough sales to make it all worth while because I love these events.
Of course, at an art 'sale' everything is relative.
I love art festivals.
I go to a lot of art shows. Sometimes I see an artist's work at one show, think about it, and either buy at a later show or contact the artist directly and not at a show. And, sometimes I don't see anything worth thinking about. It is the artists' job to present works people just have to have.
Sounds like a day on Llandudno Pier, lots of looking and admiring... but not enough sales!
It was the same at the art show I went to last Friday Pat, so many people, but at least the art is up in the gallery for a whole week so hopefully people will go back if they spotted something.
I doubt art fairs make many sales. But they expose people to local artists and then those people might go back to the galleries/studios at a later date and purchase something. :)
I agree with Halcyon, I think these shows are always about entertainment not sales. But they are a fun way to get the public exposed to artists in their community. Great people shot.
