Gassing Up

When I was in the stables at Casa Loma there was a room with automotive memorabilia but no explanation as to why they were there. This wonderful old gas pump was found there - not sure how old it is but it belonged to Imperial Oil and distributed their Premier Gasoline. I bet it is from the 20's.

I love seeing these old gas pumps. They certainly bring back some childhood memories back when gas was only 17 cents a gallon.

They were better looking back then -- and you got better service (well, not that I remember the 20s (quite) but it was true 20 years later.

Wonder if the stables were used as a garage for the house at one time? Great looking pump.

I think you're right about this being from the 20s or maybe 30s. I don't remember such a pump or the Premier name (the latter is probably Canadian). I bought my first car in 1955 (a '37 Chevy) and gas hovered around the 25 cents a gallon mark.

I was not around when this was in use. Honestly!

Why doesn't it surprise me that Pellatt would have his own gas pump?!
