Allan Gardens Conservatory

To escape the cold and forget winter for a bit, I made a visit to the conservatory at Allan Gardens and this is the beautiful Palm House, the original part of the structure which was built in 1910. The conservatory consists of 5 greenhouses and covers over 16,000 sq ft. I'll be showing you some inside shots for the next few days to help all of us northern hemisphere people warm up.

That sounds like a perfect place to go to escape the cold. It would be like entering a tropical forest.

It's a beautiful building. I don't think I've ever been in that part of the city. I'll have to check it out.

What a terrific place! I love the old conservatories. I don't need the dose of summer as much as those up north do, but I'm glad to traipse along behind you for this visit.

Having had looked at a map, it's a lot closer to the downtown than I had realized. I will have to stop by the next time I'm down there.

These are lovely, warm places in winter. There is a similar conservatory in Chicago containing palms, tropical plants, and an orchid room where I use to temporarily escape winter chills. Lovely photo.

Very nice. The structures remind me of some in Paris. It's huge and I would guess a wonderful place to spend some time during the winter months!
