Dragon Head

This is one of those things that I have photographed several times trying to get a good shot. I've done it at night, in shadow, and in the sunlight like this but there always seems to be so much reflection in the pic. I'm finally posting this one despite the reflections of bike, van and building. The whole head is formed out of window screening laid over a framework of some kind and it has been on display in this window belonging to an artist studio on Bathurst St. Cool isn't it?

"Sometimes"

There is a window gallery on Davenport Road called Roadside attractions that features work of local and international artists and the piece showing now is "Sometimes" by Australian artist Sarah Nolan who is also the founder and director of Branch 3D, a window gallery in Sydney, Australia. The work with the strips and words on them "sums up what a life can be" and "the repetition reinforces the notion of daily routine". You can see the trees of the park across the road in the reflection along with a cyclist and a hint of a photographer.

Dusting?

I spotted this unusual window display back in November when I was out shooting the Santa Claus parade. The space seems to be some type of artist studio and I thought the use of feather dusters was superb! If you look closely in the right reflection you can just make out a giant Smurf waiting for the parade to begin.

"Optimum 1"

This piece, titled "Optimum 1", has appeared recently in the window of a flooring company that regularly gives their window over  to various artists for a few months at a time.  The artist Vladimir Radoykov  sees the piece as playing with volume versus surface area relative to the viewer going by on the street. It certainly is striking with all its colours!

Art In The Window

A local flooring company, Floorworks, gives their front window over to various artists for a couple of months at a time. This installation called "The Orphans" has just been installed by an artist group called AT.AW that has previously done a lot of street art of the paper graffiti type. With 14' tall walls this window provides a huge canvas for the orphans who are said to be a "reflection of the chaotic anonymity of urban life"!

Artist Windows

Floorworks, a local flooring company, commissions artists to decorate their front window display. The canvas is two 14' tall walls and the artist is given free rein - some work better than others but it is always interesting. The present one is really bright and quirky - not sure what they are but I like the creatures/organisms.
