I loved the style of this clock found over the entrance to a store in old Quebec City.
I hadn't really gone by this clock called "Full Moon" which is located on Yonge St for a long time and then I remembered that I had posted it HERE way back in 2010. It was created by Wendell Castle in 1988 and it looks so 80s to me. If you go back and look at my original post you will see that the clock now needs a bit of sprucing up. A polish & clean would help.
The clock tower with bell at Massey College really shows itself as 1960's architecture. I love it. The architect for the college and all of its furnishings was Roy Thom. The bell chimes three times a day at meal time. I was shooting into really strong sunshine so had to remove a lot of shadow to show the tower.
This is Toronto Fire Station 346 which is found on the grounds of the Canadian National Exhibition which is right downtown in the city at the lakeshore. The fire hall was built in 1912 and has been kept in great condition. The pic was taken just before sunset with the sun just catching parts of the roof and the clock tower.
This clock tower is found in the original wing of the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre which was built in 1948. The centre has had many additions through the years and is now the largest trauma centre in Canada. The small tents down below were being set up for a market which takes place on Thursdays during the summer months.
There is no mistaking that that is a jewellers store along Avenue Rd in the Yorkville neighbourhood when you see this large ring out front. I do wonder if it has a function as a bicycle stand too. I like their great clock too!
This is a pic that I took last September of the Press building at Exhibition Place which I showed you yesterday in a night time pic. Those flowers and green leaves certainly look appealing to our winter weary eyes. And the clock was telling the correct time.

Although not as old as Scadding Cabin which I showed you yesterday the fire hall at Exhibition Place is an old one too. This Tudor Revival beauty was built in 1912 and as you can see has been beautifully cared for over the years. I think it had been newly painted this summer before the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) opened in August. The clock tower would have once been used for hanging hoses to dry.
This pic shows part of the exterior of the Summerhill Liquor Store. I had shown the whole building with lots of info back in 2010 (HERE) but this time it is the fountain that I wanted to show. It is interesting in that it has a shallow trough that fills with water and then the structure tilts and dumps the water as it is doing here before repeating the cycle. The pigeons don't seem to pay any attention to it! Our liquor stores are all owned by the government and operated as the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO).
I've shown you this clock before when there were no leaves on the trees (HERE) and thought I'd give a different view. This is the tower found at Upper Canada College which is an exclusive private school for boys found in the Forest Hill area of the city. I ventured through an opening in their fence to catch this leafy shot!
This is a side view of yesterday's Osgoode Hall and it gives you an idea of the various additions that have occurred over the years. I just like to see the clock tower from Old City Hall peeking over the top surrounded by the newer buildings along Queen St W.
This shot was taken while walking along a laneway north of Queen St W. I just liked the view through the trees of Victory atop a pedestal on University Ave and the clock on Old City Hall that is a block away at Bay St with a new office tower as their background.
I showed you a pic of this clock tower back in the winter (HERE) and finally stopped one day when heading north on Avenue Road to get this shot of the view while driving. The school has been here a long time and so the very busy road actually takes a big swing around the school property before continuing on its route! This is Upper Canada College, probably the most exclusive private school for boys in the country. The fence on the right protects the tennis courts.

This clock tower belongs to Upper Canada College which is an exclusive private school for boys located just north of St Clair Ave. When driving up Avenue Road which ends at the school you get a wonderful view of the school and its tower. The original Romanesque Revival building on the property was built in 1891 but was is such a state of disrepair that it was torn down in the 50s and this Georgian structure was constructed and opened in 1960. There were a few flakes of snow coming down when I took this pic. I will try to go back one day and get a shot of the view looking up from Avenue Road.
I found this sign and clock on the side of P.J. O'Brien Irish pub near yesterday's post in the St Lawrence Market neighbourhood. I hadn't seen it before so it was a pleasant surprise indeed. Those people to the left were a couple with a English Bulldog and a photographer with cases of very fancy camera equipment and they were setting up for a walk-by shot past the clock. The clock was not showing the correct time!

I've taken many pics of this tower but never posted one until today. This is the clock tower at No 8 Hose Station located at College St & Bellevue Ave and it has to be one of the most recognizable landmarks in west-end Toronto. The original station was built in 1878 and housed a horse-drawn fire wagon, with the 8 storey high tower being added in 1899. The tower was used to dry hoses and also as a look-out post to watch for fires in the neighbourhood. In 1972 the station was destroyed by a fire set by an arsonist while the firecrew was out fighting a fire elsewhere, but the station and tower were rebuilt almost exactly the same as the original.
The Yorkville Fire Hall is found just down the street from the Pilot Tavern which I showed you last week. It is one of the oldest fire halls in the city being built in 1876 to serve what was then the Village of Yorkville and was restored in 1974. It is one of a few halls in Toronto with a clock tower. I'll show you a close-up of that coat-of-arms on the tower tomorrow.
I've gone into my archives for a sunny fall pic since it has been so dull and grey here lately. Elmsley Hall was designed by architects Brennan & Whale and built at St Michael's College at U of Toronto in 1955. The hall serves as a men's residence and this pic shows the attached power plant and 75' tall chimney which didn't have the clock (designed by Steven Fong) installed until 2005. I can't imagine it without the clock today!
This lovely little clock is on an old bank building that has been marred by the addition of those ugly, cheap, back-lit signs used on stores everywhere but fortunately they left the clock and the surrounding details alone. I drive by this place all the time and only noticed the clock surround a few weeks ago so quickly pulled over for a pic. And the clock was right on time!
This is the clock tower of our Old City Hall which was constructed in 1899 and designed by architect E. J. Lennox. When constructed, it was the largest building in Toronto and is still quite spectacular sitting at the head of Bay St beside our new City Hall.
