January Theme: Photo Of The Year

The January theme for the City Daily Photo Blog community is 'Photo Of The Year'  and I chose this shot that I took in Merida Mexico of a dog  in an art gallery. I really liked the shot and the dog was so good to go back up the stairs after greeting everyone.

Waiting

This sweet girl was sitting with a young man at the park but was staring intently down the path looking for someone else it seemed. She looked at me for a moment and I got this shot. She then continued her wait. I imagine that there was a wonderful greeting for someone.

"Hercules"

This comfortable guy is Hercules whose main interest in life is getting treats. He's a friendly dog so everyone offers him one.

Retriever

I watched this young woman and her dog in a local park as she kicked a ball which her dog would race to retrieve and return it to start the whole thing over again. The dog was totally into running after that ball!

A Local Pack

While out for a walk I ran into a local dog walker with his friendly group of canines. They were all happy to stop for some attention and a few head scratches.

Gallery Dog

While visiting one of the galleries in Merida Mexico I spotted this wonderful onlooker waiting on the stairs for any excuse to come down for a visit. She was very friendly and was a typical nice Great Dane.

Treats For Me?

Orla was visiting my friend for the day and when I met her she was wondering if I had treats in my pocket. We found some for her and she was happy.

The Fire Hall Dog

There was a huge contingent of Toronto Fire service people marching in the St Patrick's Day parade and they brought their Dalmation dog with them. It was a cool/cold day and so the dog wore 2 coats and a scarf to keep warm. Who could resist the smile on the Fireman's face?

Wearing The Green

There were a lot of dogs in the St Patrick's Day parade wearing the green but these 2 were among the cutest. They were getting much attention from the crowd as they walked along.

Waiting

This handsome fellow was waiting for his human to come out of a store and had his eyes glued to the door. When I stopped he gave me a 2 second look and then it was back to the door.

The Gallery Watchdog

This cute pup was in the window of the Cardinal Gallery which I showed during the past week. He just stayed on a nice cushion and watched me as I walked around and took pics. I have to make a point of going back when the gallery is open to visit with him and view the photos too.

Redheads

This was a fun group of Irish Setters who were taking part in the St Patrick's Day parade. I was near the beginning of the route and the dogs were all quite excited by all the people and the applause but I wonder how they were by the end. Usually there is a group of Irish Wolfhounds but they gave the parade a miss this year.

Tired Dogs

It is hard to tell from the pic but this was taken at a dog park and the woman had a dog that was sleeping at her feet and the two guys had a dog who was just sitting there. It isn't even the dog days of summer yet and the pooches are already tired out.

Social Distancing At The Dog Park

On the same afternoon as yesterday's post the dogs were keeping their distance from each other at the off leash area in another park. I think it was just a coincidence as they soon were jumping all over each other.

Mechanic's Dog

This sweet dog belongs to the mechanic who I showed you in the Camaro on Thursday. Her name is Lola and she may look tough but she is quite gentle.

Taking Max For A Walk

I spotted these signs with Max the Airedale Terrier at a newly installed dog park in the ravine near Casa Loma. The city has installed similar signs at most of the dog parks and I have seen large posters on bus shelters too as an attempt is made to get people to stoop & scoop and to keep their dogs on a leash unless they are in an off leash area. I'm not sure how successful they will be.

A Watercolour!

With everyone trying to stay isolated and stay home as much as possible many people are finding time to explore new pursuits. A good friend of mine has been spending time doing watercolour paintings and did this fabulous one of an Airedale Terrier, a breed that is dear to me. Isn't it wonderful?

Cool Dog

I finally ventured out to a park last weekend, one of the parks that run along the Humber River through the city. It was a warm day and this Bull Terrier found a place to cool off and was refusing to come out for his owner. He was in a happy place.

Willow

This sweet dog named Willow was recently adopted by my neighbours. She was a rescue dog from the Caribbean island of St Lucia and has taken to her new home perfectly. She is a real sweetheart and loves everyone she meets.

"Toss That Ball"

This dog had been fetching her ball back and forth for quite a while but was still very eager to go after it again. I usually approach this park from the other direction so hadn't noticed the cool mural on this side of the wall which is the backdrop for a garden on the other side. I guess it is a good idea to change your routes occasionally.
