I spotted this sign on a bus stop this week as I walked along in the freezing cold. Even in winter we should remember our bees and be aware of the threats they face.

I was walking along and spotted the wee bee on this van and stopped for a shot. Love the bee and its path. The company, Alveole, supports bee hives on the top of commercial buildings with green roofs as well as other things.

Yesterday's bee was actually getting ready to have a nice drink of water. I had a small, shallow decorative saucer on the deck that became filled with water. The bees discovered that it was a perfect place for them to get a nice drink and have been coming back ever since. I now keep it topped up for them. There can sometimes be 4 or 5 of them all drinking.
This was my first bee sighting of the year and I followed this guy for several minutes as he dive bombed a large pot of chives that were flowering. I couldn't catch him staying still but still liked this shot of the high energy action so here it is.

It has been so cold that I felt the need to think about warmer days. This shot of the bee on a Marigold was taken back on a nice day last September. Spring will be welcomed here with wide arms.
I have a lot of Cosmos flowering up on my roof deck and the bees are loving them. It's good to see happy bees.

This bee was going from flower to flower on a tomato plant but this flower was hanging down so the bee had to get its wings going a mile a minute to hang upside down. I love its little furry head.
