Go Fast

This was the rear window of yesterday's MG. I assume they are saying to go fast but be careful at the same time. It looks like there is a bit of damage on the right side but I saw no more rust anywhere.

Little Red Beauty

I spotted this red beauty out in front of the local mechanic's shop. It is a 1969 MG MGB GT and looks to be in great shape. Wouldn't it be fun to cruise around a bit in it? And the added bonus is the Land Rover Defender in powder blue sitting in the background.

A Little Bit Antsy

The entry door of a garage has been painted up nicely probably to keep the taggers away. I just hope those aren't carpenter ants!

Mother Cat

I spotted another Pop-up card in Koreatown. This one has mother cat trying to keep her kittens in their basket but they are a handful.

Bathtime

Goldfinches always seem to enjoy a good bath possibly more than other birds. This guy came out of this fountain totally soaked to the skin!

Along The Humber

The Humber River is one of two rivers that wind their way through Toronto. The Humber is in the west end and there are pathways and parks all along it as it heads down to Lake Ontario. This pic was taken on a beautiful sunny day when lots of people were out enjoying the area.

An Unusual Addition

Very near the attractive brick building that I showed you on Tuesday I spotted this very unusual addition atop a typical Little Italy home. It probably makes for a nice space inside but it is certainly out of the norm.

St Lawrence Hall

I showed you the St Lawrence Market building a week ago and today present the St Lawrence Hall which is part of the St Lawrence complex. The hall was built in 1850 as a public meeting place and a venue for concerts and exhibitions. It was restored in 1967 and continues as an event location for meetings, weddings, etc.

Contrast in Style

I had spotted this building on Google maps when I was looking for something else and then a few days later headed down to see it. What had been a small commercial building in the middle of a residential area in Little Italy was added to and converted into this striking home. I really like the style and all of the nice brickwork that was used. You can see a bit of the house to its right which is the typical Victorian seen in this neighbourhood.

A Rather Graphic Butterfly

I have not seen any Monarch Butterflies yet this year and certainly won't see one whose patterning is as graphic as this one.  The artist for this mural is Andre Kan. I quite like it.

A Bouquet

I am totally fascinated by the pop-up cards that a store in Koreatown sells and luckily they change their window often.  The cute bunny is obviously good friends with the squirrel. They are probably plotting to do a raid on someone's veggie patch!

Hawk

This Red-Tailed Hawk was sitting up where I had spotted the Hawk couple being friendly in the early spring. I have not seen any young ones flying about yet.

Cute House

This bungalow is a bit of a rarity in the Little Italy district where most of the homes are tall Victorians. There is something cute about it and the little girl riding into the shot on her yellow scooter is a bonus.

Tired Dogs

It is hard to tell from the pic but this was taken at a dog park and the woman had a dog that was sleeping at her feet and the two guys had a dog who was just sitting there. It isn't even the dog days of summer yet and the pooches are already tired out.

St Lawrence Market South Building

The St Lawrence Market has been a part of downtown for well over a century. This is the south building which was finished in1902 and contains part of an original 1845 building. It is a public market which houses over 120 food vendors and restaurants as well as a gallery on the second floor. Like everything else it has been affected by covid restrictions but will soon be back to normal I hope.

Seasonal Decorations

I go by this home fairly often and they always have decorations of some sort out in their front garden and hanging from the tree. The special holiday decorations are not unusual to see but these people also just celebrate every day. I loved all of these pinwheels blowing in the wind and there were twirly things in the tree too.

Fierce Face

I found this rather fierce face in a laneway just off Bathurst St. It almost has the feeling of guarding the lane. I forgot to check for the artist's name for this one.

Condo Construction Continues

This is the front view of the condo I showed you a few weeks ago that is built right beside the railway tracks. It looks like it is going to be rather attractive but I wouldn't be surprised if people start complaining about the noise when they move in. These tracks are very busy with long freight trains all day and night!

Lunchtime

This black squirrel looks so innocent as it eats a seed from a Maple tree but they can be real pests in the garden as they dig about looking for things and also as they harvest your fruit and veggies before you can. I have given up growing strawberries as I never got any.

A Quiet Spot At The Park

This fellow had ridden his bike to the park bringing a small fold-up chair with him. He found a nice spot under a tree and was totally engrossed in his phone. A restful scene.

An Annex Garden

This lovely display of flowers was found in the front garden of a house in the Annex neighbourhood. It was a beautiful day made more special by this display. Love those poppies!

Monarch Tavern

The Monarch Tavern has been open on the corner of Clinton and Henderson in Little Italy since 1927.  It is one of the oldest licensed places in the city with a friendly pub on the upper floor and a cocktail lounge on the main floor. Hopefully it will be open for business again soon!

Another Laneway House Coming

There is yet another laneway house being constructed in a lane near me. There had been a double garage here before and it looks as if there will be a single parking space included in this structure. They were in the middle of insulating when I took this. I will follow the progress and see if a tour can be arranged when it is finished.

Clouds

I love that someone painted this wall blue with wonderful clouds. This is the service and garbage area behind some restaurants on College St in Little Italy, an area that would normally look rather dismal. Now it looks a bit special.

Container Gardening

The Chives and Mint both survived winter out on the roof in their containers and are really putting out a lot of growth. A see a Mojito in my future.

Closest Water

The nearest water for these geese is about a half a mile away. I'm not sure if they know what a fire hydrant is used for but the scene amused me.

Day At The Park

I caught these grandparents with the youngster who had just finished playing in the playground. It was now time to rest for a bit.

Allium

We had unusually warm weather two weeks ago which encouraged all of the Allium buds to pop open but the heat also meant that the blooms didn't last as long as usual. This is just a small part of the ones I spotted in someone's garden.

Grandmama's

I have seen this small shop selling waffles several times since the lockdowns have been active here and will have to drop by when I can get a good idea of what they serve. According to the web they have a great variety of toppings for the waffles which sounds good to me.

June Theme: When I Can Travel Again

The June theme for the City Daily Photo Blog community is 'When I can travel again' and I thought of all of the postcards I will send to people when that happens. It is probably a long way off but one can dream.
