Chihuly At Night
I posted pics of the Chihuly pieces in the canopy of the Metropolitan Soho Hotel last October 2010. I finally got down there to take a pic at night when the pieces were lit from above and they are spectacular! Click on my hotel label below to see the day shots.

It surely is the most interesting hotel entrance I've ever seen!
I enjoyed seeing Chihuly at Tacoma a few summers ago, esp. the window at the old train station.
Super capture here! Your colors came out great & I love the framing; not easy to capture so well.

Great color saturation! This was reminding me of Tacoma too.
Oh how I love Chihuly! This is just gorgeous!
A good number of years ago now I had the pleasure of seeing a Chihuly show at the Seattle Art Gallery, and that same year I attended Seattle Opera's Pélleas et Mélisande for which he designed the sets. Not in glass of course, too fragile, but he maintained his style. I love his work, and often peruse the eponymous book.
you must have stood on your head to get this great over head pic! i love his work and you do it justice. thanks red pat.
I remember seeing a fabulous Chihuly chandelier in the foyer of the Victoria and Albert Museum a few years back. His pieces really come to life when they are lit (as they are intended to I suppose).
Super shot of a very difficult subject to photograph well, great job RedPat.
Kudos to you! These color are magnificent! Chihuly has become the "in" thing these days.
This is fabulous, I never would have guessed this was a canopy. The night shot is so different than the daytime photos. The night looks like a piece of art. I love this.
Beautiful! I didn't know there was Chihuly here in Toronto. I love his work.
I even have a picture from LV of some of his work. I thought I had some posted from Seattle as well, but I can't find it. :(

ah, very cool. It looks both 2D and 3D.
Is this a reflection in a mirror?
I do love his work!
I can see why you wanted to get them at night, they are so much more dramatic.
WOW!
Chihuly is fantastic and so is this photo. Well done, RedPat!
I have seen Chihuly's work many places. This is a most colorful example. People really seem to connect with his work, even (and maybe especially) people who are not traditional arts lovers.
Last year he visited Columbus, Ohio, when the art museum, conservatory and a private gallery had coordinated exhibitions. I was on the museum's board of directors, so I sat across from him at dinner. It was remarkable how little he was able to articulate what he does or what effects he is seeking.
