Bird Mural Part 1

This mural in a Koreatown laneway wraps around 3 sides of the building so I am going to do it in 3 posts. This is one of those buildings that was being constantly tagged with graffiti and so the owners commissioned "Under the Radar", which is a grass roots art & design company that I have mentioned before, to install this mural. The mural was a collaboration between several artists and was completed in May 2011. More to come for the next 2 days!

Very dramatic colors...The birds look angry and like their raising a racket...I'd guess there are a number of Korean symbols involved? I like it, I think. I also wonder if a mural like this stays "untagged," or if the taggers get irate their building was taken from them?

Like the way the birds are perched on a wire that looks like a part of the building.

I think I commented before on this, but just in case I just thought it , I think that Under the Radar" is the coolest best thing in the world. I love this mural (this part of it -- I'll come back to check out the rest).

Amazing that you find out so much about the murals in Toronto. We have many murals around areas that may have been tag targets. KC doesn't have so much graffiti I shall have to get out and shoot some of the murals in KC, I just hope I can find information about them.

Nice one! Love the colours.
You should have called the council tow truck to remove the car - it is parked in a no parking zone and interfering with your photography ;-)

I have to agree with Lowell. This is very dramatic. I can't wait to see the rest.

Cars and street furniture are the bane of the street photographer. I despair sometimes of signs and things like bus stops that seem placed just to obscure part of a view of a lovely old building.
