Toy Soldiers

This steel & resin sculpture by Canadian artist Douglas Coupland is titled "Monument To The War Of 1812" and it is suitably located about a block from Fort York. It was installed in 2008 in front of a condominium complex as part of the city's art requirement for new development. The "two abandoned toy soldiers pay tribute to Toronto's history" and Fort York's part in the Canadian victory in the war of 1812.

Fantastic shot, every time I try to get one something is in front of it or else there are shadows.

I love how Douglas Coupland has several pieces of art strewn about the city core.

What a nice sculpture! I love it that the city has an art requirement.

Poignant, appropriate, also shows how the passage of time takes the pain leaving 'history'

A really good post - as daily, Pat!

It is kind of interesting. Not as Heroic as most military memorials are.

You were right about Atlas. I am so tall I have to crouch to get down to eye level with most subjects. When I crouched to photograph Meghan, Atlas thought I wanted to play and leaped forward to play with me.
