Theme Day - "Shadow and Highlight"

The theme for the City Daily Photo Blog community for June is "Shadow And Highlight" and I thought this bronze sculpture of Winston Churchill was a great example. The piece was done by artist Ernest Raab and was installed at the Veteran's Centre at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in 1994. The deep shadows make the sculpture looks so dramatic!
Taking part in the theme day. Click HERE to see more examples of Shadows and Highlights from around the world.

The deep shadows work with the stern expression!

I would recognize that face anywhere. Lovely light and shadows photo.

He was a guiding light in WWII.

This is a perfect shot for the theme. I also like that statue.

You are right; it is a perfect photo for the theme. And perhaps there's more...before WWII, Churchill sort of lived in the shadows...he didn't come into this own until the war. Maybe that's when he discovered cigars. Booze he discovered long before! :)

Perfect photo for this, but I fear he needs a bit of cheering up!

Winston does look quite stern, which you expect!

He definitely looks "shady". ;-)

Hello, perfect shot for the theme! Enjoy your day!

I am sure that Churchill himself would approve of your choice!

Shadows at Sunnybrook. Great! :-)

Sir Winston looks weighed down by the burdens of war. The irony here is the no smoking sign to the left, since he was a great cigar lover.

Thanks for your kind comment on my post today.

Very nice, RedPat. I had a similar idea but didn't run across any busts with the right lighting when the theme was in my head.

And isn't the man something of a combination of light and shadow, too? Nice shot for today's theme!
