Orange Beauties

There were still a lot of Monarch Butterflies fluttering around last week when I spotted these two gathering some nutrients. The weather is really changing now so most of them will have headed south towards Mexico this week!

They have great navigational skills.

Oh so beautiful! The Desert Botanical Garden will open their butterfly pavilion this weekend and the fall opening always has lots of monarchs. I can't wait to see them.

It never ceases to amaze me how dramatic the patterns on their wings are Pat. Glad to hear it's cooling down a wee bit ✨

Great shot! What's the life span of a Monarch Butterfly? Do they really fly all the way to Mexico?

Beautifully captured. Monarchs are so incredible - gorgeous and indomitable. We used to see them when they stopped by the sanctuary in Pacific Grove.

I was just watching a television program the other day that had a segment about the Monarchs in Michoacan. It's an amazing odyssey.

Such a journey! Mind you, I sometimes think I'd do it myself when I contemplate winter coming along.

They had been very active around here too, until the week rain that set in. Haven't seen them so much lately. Maybe this weekend?
