September Theme Day: "Teach"

The September theme for the City Daily Photo Blog community is "Teach" and I chose this carving of a book which is found on the old Ontario Government Building on the Exhibition Grounds downtown. The building was finished in 1926 to be used for displays during the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) but is now an event space known as the Liberty Grand. The wonderful carvings on the building have been wonderfully maintained and I thought this was a good one for teach.

We can learn from books, from others, or from experience--they all teach us something if we are open to learn. (I am sad, however, to read Tom's comment about education not being important in the US these days. While educators do seem to be frequently under attack, as a retired teacher myself and with my son studying to become a teacher, I hold out optimism that educating all our children is the most important act for our future.)

That's a good theme for the first of this month! School starts and summer is over, no matter what the calendar says!

Our family used to have such fun on the island. It is complicated to hang onto a home.

Very fitting!

This fits. I had a second grade teacher for whom those coiled serpents would be appropriate.
