Stables Sign

The Toronto Botanical Gardens are located in a ravine that connects into several parks along the Don Valley eventually ending at Lake Ontario. If you walk south from the gardens you go through Edwards Gardens and then through Sunnybrook Park which was the location for the Sunnybrook Stables until a horrific fire in May that killed 16 horses. I have no idea if the stables will be rebuilt in the future and there doesn't seem to be any info available about it. Obviously this sign sculpted from plants has been in the Botanical Gardens for a long time and has been maintained in the meantime. Those ropes had to be installed to keep people from standing on the sign to have their pics taken.

That is a beautiful display but, boy what a sad story. I bet there were a lot of heartbroken people after that fire.

Very sad about the fire and loss of horses.
The sign made with plants is just beautiful, I'm glad they've roped it off so people don't damage it!

So the stables are not. In more ways than one.

The sign is a beauty, Pat. It's sad to hear about the horses who died in the fire, I didn't know that.

I was wondering about the stables...
Nice display here - and I still don't get why so many people feel the need for a selfie!

How sad the stables burned with the loss of so many horses. The sign if really beautiful. Hope they can rebuild. Horses are such special animals.

What a gorgeous sign and how ridiculous that people would go stomping through it for selfies.
The story of the horses is so tragic. Something similar happened in California last year during wildfires in the fall. A ranch hand apparently opened the horse barn and let the horses loose as a fire approached. I never heard how the horses fared but at least they had a running start.

Oh my gosh that is tragic Pat, so many horses and what a dreadful way to go! The garden is lovely and in a way almost a tribute. Can't believe people would stand all over it to take pics, honestly!

Oh no, how incredibly sad that is. So very sorry for the horses and their owners and friends.

If people had more common sense we'd have less need for those fences lol.
