Smoking Lounge?

I spotted this smoking lounge in a long term care home. It seemed like it was still in operation so I guess they allow the resident smokers to go in there where the air is being filtered and removed. It still surprises me but most of the residents would be unable to go outside so this offers them a bit of a chance for a smoke. Still very strange though.

That is something you don't see very often. In fact, I can't remember seeing something like this in many years.

That is very strange. It reminds me of the airport in Salt Lake City back in the 80s where they had a room/lounge just for smokers. I was amazed at all the smoke just hanging in there like fog.

People should stop smoking its not good for their and others health

...addiction is a BIG problem that corporations have sold to vulnerable people. I HATE smoking and always have, but I do feel sorry for those who are hooked. Take care and stay safe.

Have not seen a smoking lounge in years. Anyone who still smokes must go outside around here, and that is another inducement to stop smoking.

I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke. Cough!

Isn't this what they used to call the "back room" where so-called "deals" got done? :-)

Unusual to see these days.

If they allow the residents to continue with their smoking habit, it might become a SHORT term care home.

They figure if someone has lived to 70 smoking, how can they, or should they stop them? Also, staff need a smoking area, too.

I suppose this is a courtesy to residents but I have trouble accepting smoking. Dreadful habit.

Saves the rest of us 😉

What most "amazes" me are smoking nurses outside hospitals.

Or those tiny smoker rooms you find at airports. "Örgs". And you really find people in there, too.
One of my friends still smokes, too, he smells so bad afterwards. And Hubby cannot give up his darn pipe. Big Yuck.

A definite rarity.

I remember when my parents were in assisted living. My dad gave up smoking easily but my mother was very addicted. She was allowed to smoke in the courtyard, and other residents were constantly begging cigarettes from her. I always hated the smell of smoke, but I could see that people in their 80s and 90s were not able to quit comfortably.

I agree, very strange, but it keeps the smoking with the smokers I guess!
